International first class is now offered on a smaller number of long-haul routes, mostly by large full-service airlines; many carriers have replaced it with an upgraded business cabin.
Compare the first class fare with business class on the same route — the difference in comfort is often smaller than the difference in price.
Flexible dates, midweek travel and booking outside peak holiday periods usually give the best chance of a lower premium fare.
